How you can support this site
There are several ways you can help Travel Bagel help travelers, nomads, and expats find their way around the world. This site is in its infancy, and it will require my time, effort and money in order for it to reach its full potential. If you like what you see so far, please consider supporting the site. Below are some of the ways in which you can help me help others.
This is the easiest way to support Travel Bagel. I have a few external links sprinkled throughout the site to products and services that have proved to be useful to me on my travels. If you have a genuine interest in the products or services, I hope that you will use the links on this site to make your purchases so I can earn a few cents. (Every little bit counts.) The links do not cost you any extra (and in some cases may actually save you money), so it’s a win-win.
I’m a full-stack Web Developer with 20+ years of experience.
Whether you have a Web application you need to be built for your business or simply want help setting up a personal WordPress blog, I can help. I’m extremely hard-working, honest and aim to meet or exceed expectations. As a digital nomad, my cost of living is low so my rates are competitive, and I have an excellent work ethic — thus simultaneously giving you the benefits of outsourcing and hiring a workaholic American.
Content is king. I’ve visited more than 70 countries, however, it will take some time for me to reconstruct three years of continuous travel while coding new features, working on monetizing the site, and searching for a job to put food on my table until Travel Bagel takes off.
For this reason, I welcome your original content, including the following types of contributions:
- Walking tour routes and descriptions
- Personal stories from your travel adventures
- Country overviews
- City guides
- Travel tips
- Travel musings
- Travel poetry
I can’t guarantee that all submissions will be posted here, but there’s a very good chance your travel-related contribution will be included if it is entertaining or informational.
I am a web developer, not a designer. What you are currently looking at is the result of my very limited design skills — which always results in a very antiseptic, boxy look-and-feel. If you possess superior design skills to mine (which is a very low bar indeed) and wish to contribute a design or even just a logo, I’d love to see it. If I adopt your creative contribution, it will be something you can proudly add to your portfolio.
This site costs money to run — money, sadly, that I don’t have at the moment. I’m genuinely surprised at how much I have already spent on this site, even before launch. (It will be interesting to see how much more it will cost once I actually have traffic.)
As I am currently unemployed, I have started to consider returning to the States. But, before giving up and abandoning my nomadic lifestyle, I’m giving this blog one good try.
So, until I am able to start monetizing the site, I am requesting visitors who can contribute to do so. Should I succeed at getting this site off the ground, I will do my best to find a way to reward the generosity of those who contributed to Travel Bagel’s success.
I will be forever grateful if you donate via PayPal.
