Like most of the OYO hotels I’ve stayed at, Pancha Buddha is clean, modern and bright, offering all the amenities I look for: strong Wifi, international cable news channels, a hot shower, and comfortable bed. This hotel is in a perfect location in Thamel, and within walking distance to Sorhakhutte Bus Stop (to catch a bus to Pokhara).
This is perhaps the cheapest pub in Thamel. I frequently stopped by for the unbeatable Happy Hour special (two cocktails for the price of one), which ends at 8 PM. They mainly play English rock, with a few Nepalese songs thrown into the mix. The pub shows its age but the atmosphere is still quite pleasant. Solo travelers will be happy to find a counter to sit at. The place also has a pool table.
Read this before deciding to travel by land or air between Pokhara and Kathmandu (and either of these cities to Darjeeling, India). My land journeys within Nepal were the most nerve-racking trips I’ve been on. This article describes my experiences and lessons from these trips.
